Frequently Asked Questions
Do I have to register?
Yes! To ensure we have enough food, staff, space, and supplies, we are requiring that everyone register online by May 31st. Please follow this link to register. (Space is limited, so please register early!)
When is it happening?
The program will run from the afternoon of Thursday, June 19th to midday on Saturday, June 21st. More specific times will be posted soon (the first meal served on Thursday will be dinner and the last meal served on Saturday will be lunch). Please note that there is no option to arrive before Thursday or stay beyond Saturday. Thank you in advance for your understanding!
How much does it cost?
We have worked very hard to keep the cost of this event as low as possible. Attendance is $135 per person (ages 6 and under are free) so that we can cover food, staff compensation, and other associated expenses without dipping into the money we raise to support kids Camp. There will be opportunities to donate additional funds if you’re able to do so. If $135 is cost-prohibitive, please reach out to arainbow@mcn.org and ask to speak to Ginger. We regret that we are not able to pay for people’s transportation to Laytonville (if you want to donate to support this, please let us know).
Can I offer a class or volunteer?
During the registration process, there will be an opportunity to indicate interest in teaching a class or volunteering to support the event in other ways. At this time, we are not able to waive the attendance fee for folks interested in volunteering, but we will update those interested if that changes.
Can I bring my kids?
Yes, you can bring kids – we’re a kids camp after all! However, we anticipate that most of the people in attendance will be adults. If you bring your children, they will be your responsibility to supervise the entire time. There is no separate programming for children, and no childcare is provided.
Where will I sleep?
Attendees will sleep in the tipis, and you will have a chance to request your tipi mates or give us your general preferences (adult tipis, family tipis, etc.). If you intend to bring an RV or camper, please indicate this in your registration form, as space is limited. (RVs and campers will only be allowed in the parking lot – no vehicle camping in Camp or the sports field.) Tent sites are not available because our hardworking summer staff will already be onsite and using them!
What will I eat?
We will be fed by Camp’s wonderful kitchen, and you will have a chance to indicate dietary preferences (vegetarian, vegan, etc.) and allergies during the registration process.
Will Lake Veronica be open?
We hope so – we are working hard to ensure enough lifeguard staffing to enable us to open the lake!
Can I arrive early or stay late?
Because of other programming taking place at Camp, there is no option to arrive before Thursday afternoon or to stay beyond Saturday afternoon. We cannot offer any exceptions to this policy and we thank you so much for your understanding.
Is there a discount if I can’t attend the entire celebration?
At this time, we are not able to offer a discount for those planning to attend only part of the event. If that changes, we will post that information here.
What’s the substance use policy?
This is a drug- and alcohol-free event. We ask that you not bring drugs or alcohol to Camp or consume them or be under the influence while you are with us.
How can I participate if I can’t make it to the celebration?
We are collecting a few things to help commemorate this moment: (1) memories or gratitudes from Camp’s first fifty years, (2) wishes for Camp’s next fifty years, and (3) notes of thanks for Wavy and Jah. Please mail your contributions to: Camp Winnarainbow, ATTN: 50th Anniversary Celebration, P.O. Box 9266, Berkeley, CA 94709. Notes of thanks will be bundled and presented to Wavy and Jah at the celebration, and the memories and wishes will be incorporated into our opening and closing ceremonies.
