Submission of a financial aid application does not guarantee a spot for your camper. We hope to notify all applicants of the result of their application in late February or early March. In the meantime, we share these conditions of enrollment, which you should review carefully. In the event that your camper(s) is/are offered financial aid, you will be required to agree to these conditions in order to register your camper for Camp.
Tuition/Fees
I understand that if I have a co-pay, that co-pay is due on or before May 1st. If needed, I may contact the Camp office to set up a zero-interest payment plan. Camp fees are all-inclusive except for transportation to and from Camp, personal items purchased at the Camp’s store, and medical charges.
Refunds
Beginning May 1, 2025, no refunds will be issued. I understand that no refunds will be issued for late arrivals or early departures, including those due to illness or positive COVID-19 test. Camp Winnarainbow has the right to dismiss a camper for any reason it believes is in the best interest of Camp. In the event of a late arrival or early departure, Camp is not responsible for any additional costs of travel, food, or lodging, or for any consequential loss(es).
Health/Safety
The safety, health, and welfare of each camper are Camp Winnarainbow’s highest priorities. By submitting this application, the camper and the parent(s)/guardian(s) of the camper agree to abide by the rules set by Camp Winnarainbow, as described in the Family Handbook (which is sent to families in the spring) and in person at Camp. As noted above, Camp reserves the right to dismiss a camper whose conduct or behavior is detrimental to Camp or for any reason Camp believes is in the best interest of Camp. If this becomes necessary, there will be no refund. Camp will consult with the parents/guardians before dismissing a camper.
By registering my camper for Camp, I acknowledge and assume all risks associated with their attendance and participation, including but not limited to the risk of injury, accident, or property damage, whether caused by the negligence of Camp Winnarainbow, its employees, agents, or other participants. I understand that the activities offered by Camp Winnarainbow have inherent risks and dangers, and I assume those risks and dangers on behalf of my child or ward and myself. Those risks and dangers include but are not limited to falls or other injuries resulting from participation in the activities offered, traffic accidents, and remoteness from emergency medical treatment facilities.
I acknowledge and assume all risks associated with the participation of activities in the natural environment, including the risk of falls or collisions, risks associated with inclement weather or natural disasters (including, but not limited to, wildfires, earthquakes, excessive heat, high winds, floods, landslides, etc.), and risk associated with the environment (including, but not limited to uneven terrain, falling trees and/or branches, wildlife encounters, campfires, drowning, dehydration, sunburn, and transmissible diseases, e.g., Lyme disease).
I hereby waive and release any and all claims that I may now or hereafter have (and on behalf of my child or ward, hereby waive and release any and all claims that my child or ward may now or hereafter have) against Camp Winnarainbow, its officers, directors, staff, employees, advisors, and agents or any one or more of them, and their respective executors, administrators, heirs, next of kin, successors or assigns, for any and all injuries, damages, or losses, including those arising from negligence, which my camper may sustain while at Camp or as a result of their attendance.
Belongings
Camp Winnarainbow is not responsible for personal belongings that are lost or damaged. Please label all items with first and last names (INITIALS ARE NOT ENOUGH). Do not bring valuables, jewelry, electronics, cell phones, or similar items to Camp. Instruments or other performing props may be brought to Camp and stored in our unlocked equipment shed; however, this is at the owner’s risk — Camp is a hot and dusty environment, not suitable for many types of instruments.
Contact Information
We must be able to contact you while your camper is with us! Should parents/guardians leave their place of residence for an extended period of time during the Camp session, please advise us of an address and phone number to contact in case of emergencies. If you plan to travel, an emergency contact must be available to pick up your camper within 24 hours of notice by Camp; thank you for your attention to this important safety measure.
While there is not a “visiting day” or phone for camper use, there are several ways to stay in touch with your camper during their session(s) with us. These options are listed on our website and in our Family Handbook (which will be sent out in the spring). And you can always call our office with questions!
Authorized Pick Up/Emergency Transport
For your child’s safety, campers are not allowed to leave Camp with anyone except those authorized by parent/guardian. In case of emergency, you give Camp Winnarainbow permission to transport your camper.
Tipi Communities
If your child wishes to be housed with another camper, that request can be made by filling in the Tipi Friend Request field on the Camper Information Sheet (the one to be completed by parents/guardians). We will try our best to accommodate these requests, but we cannot guarantee our ability to do so. Please note that where campers are different ages or where multiple requests are made, we will be especially limited in our ability to accommodate requests.
We house campers in tipi groups by age and grade level; we offer gendered tipis (boy/girl) and gender-inclusive tipis. If you would like more information about our gender-inclusive tipis, please see the Camp Life section of our website or contact our office for more information. All families are asked to select either gendered or gender-inclusive tipis via the Camper Information Sheet that is completed by parents/guardians.
Transportation
Parent/Guardian is responsible for all transportation arrangements. On registration day, you may transport your camper to our facility in Mendocino County to register, meet their counselor, and get them settled, OR you may sign your camper up for the bus. The bus from Berkeley is first come, first served with limited space. There is NO RETURN bus or transportation. All campers must be picked up by parent/guardian or other authorized adult.
Medical/Health Form
Parent/Guardian must complete and submit all Medical Health Forms by Friday, May 16, 2025. It is expressly understood by the parents/guardians of the camper for whom this reservation is requested that the camper is in a condition of health and soundness of body that warrants their undertaking a camping program as outlined in the material available on Camp’s website and in Camp’s written materials.
Risk of Injury
I understand and acknowledge that certain activities offered by Camp Winnarainbow (such as stilt‑walking, unicycling, aerial activities, and gymnastics) have an increased risk of injury, and I allow my child to participate in such activities. On the Medical Health Form, parent(s)/guardian(s) can list any activity in which their camper should not participate; please review and complete that form carefully.
Consent to Treat
In case of medical, dental, or surgical emergency, I hereby give permission to the physician selected by the Camp Director or by the medical care team at Camp Winnarainbow to hospitalize and secure proper treatment for the camper listed. I agree to reimburse Camp Winnarainbow for any cost it may incur in the medical, dental, or surgical treatment of this camper.
Photography/Video
I consent to the use of any photographs or film footage taken of this camper for advertising, promotion, or any productions authorized by Camp Winnarainbow and its affiliates. I understand that if I wish to waive this consent, I must submit a written statement to Camp via email.
Risks of Transmissible Diseases and COVID-19 Infection
I am aware of the risk that my Camper could become infected with the COVID-19 virus or other transmissible diseases while attending or traveling to and/or from Camp (whether or not my camper has been vaccinated for those diseases). I recognize that it is impossible to fully eliminate the risk of infection, and that the steps Camp has taken and will take to mitigate this risk are reasonable. I understand that these precautions are subject to change at any time.
Accordingly, I, on behalf of my Camper and our family, assume the risk that my Camper may become infected with the COVID-19 virus or other communicable diseases while attending or traveling to and from Camp, and I waive any and all claims against Camp and any and all of Camp’s managers, counselors, trainees, employees, advisors, and members of its board of directors arising out any such infection so long as Camp’s managers, counselors, trainees, employees, advisors, and board members are not grossly negligent.
I further waive all rights under California Civil Code Section 1542. That section states: “A GENERAL RELEASE DOES NOT EXTEND TO CLAIMS WHICH THE CREDITOR OR RELEASING PARTY DOES NOT KNOW OR SUSPECT TO EXIST IN HIS OR HER FAVOR AT THE TIME OF EXECUTING THE RELEASE, WHICH IF KNOWN BY HIM OR HER MUST HAVE MATERIALLY AFFECTED HIS OR HER SETTLEMENT WITH THE DEBTOR OR RELEASED PARTY.”
Immunization Requirements
I understand that Camp Winnarainbow requires proof of childhood vaccinations, consistent with what is required by schools, and that for the 2025 season, Camp will highly encourage, but not require, vaccination against COVID-19 for all campers.
I understand that Camp Winnarainbow will require pre-arrival testing for COVID-19 and may also require additional mitigation measures for the protection of all campers and staff; I agree to comply with the pre-arrival testing procedures and any additional mitigation measures (which will be announced in the spring). I understand that in the event my camper becomes ill or tests positive for COVID-19 during Camp, my camper may, at Camp’s sole discretion, be sent home immediately.
Choice of Law and Jurisdiction
I agree that any dispute or cause of action arising between myself/my camper/my family and Camp Winnarainbow, whether out of this agreement or otherwise, can only be brought in the Superior Court of California located in Alameda County, California, and shall be construed in accordance with the laws of California.
